The Guided Canoe Bushcraft Trails allow you to gain access to unreachable stretches of the broads, get close to nature.  Learn how to canoe as well as pick up some bushcraft / campcraft techniques all at the same time!

For these we use privately negotiated bivvy sites that are exclusive to us.  Upon booking you will receive a full kit list and directions - but it is nothing to worry about - we can generally supply anything that you're short of.  We normally start from Wroxham area (you will be sent directions upon booking) usually about 10.30am.  We can either organize camping / B&B for you on the previous night or arrange the 'kick off' time to suit your travel arrangements. We can also arrange transport from the Train station in Norwich.

Visit our Bushcraft School to find out more about bushcraft in Norfolk.

Please Note - There are NO wild camping sites on the Broads. The Broads authority have regular patrols throughout the night to stop overnight Bivvying having said that TheCanoeMan has negotiated sites with local land owners but these can only be used whilst accompanied by one of our guides.

Sample Itinerary - Guided Bushcraft Canoe Trail

You would want to start your trail in the morning - if you want to camp over the previous night just let us know.  If this was the case we would give you directions to the Campsite or B&B (we could have all the tents up - so all you would need would be a sleeping bag each).  Depending on the expected time of arrival you could either organize food at the campsite or you could eat in the pub (next door to the campsite!).

Following morning we would collect you from the campsite and drive you to the top of the river where we would kit you out, provide instruction and then begin the trail (note it says trail not Trial!).  We generally cover a 'good' distance on the first day (12-15 km).

That night we would bivvy overnight in the deepest darkest depths of Norfolk under Tarps (tents might be available if you have any real wusses!!).  This will be the opportunity to learn some mystical Bushcraft, including firelighting skills, cooking over an open fire, etc.  The degree of Bushcraft Skills / Backwoods cooking etc. can be adjusted to suit your current experience levels (from complete beginner to expert) - please advise of any specific requirements.

We will probably go for an evening paddle - there will be some great opportunities for wildlife spotting / photography at this time of the evening.  Later that evening the may wish to partake in camp fire stories and adult beverages!

The following morning after a hearty breakfast we will regroup.  Dependent on time possible look at more Bushcraft type skills.  We then break camp and continue our journey down the river winding our way through the broads system - stopping off at points of interest and wildlife spotting on route.  This programme would be repeated on subsequent days - working our way through the broads.  On the last day we would normally finish at 4pm (but this is flexible) and return you to your vehicle(s).
