If you have never been canoeing before, then
canoeing with us could not be made easier. Whether you are an
individual, family, group of friends or a corporate event we can
arrange everything for you. We supply all the equipment you
require for your trip, i.e. boats, paddles and buoyancy aids,
transport up river can be provided if required.
We have a range of canoe hire centres on the
Norfolk Broads, designed to offer variety and choice, whether you
would prefer to paddle your canoe along a small tree lined river
or an open stretch of water. Both have their attractions and
attract very different kinds of wildlife. Canoe hire with
TheCanoeMan is the way to see it all. The beauty of paddling a
canoe on the Norfolk Broads that you need little or no experience.
The water is generally flat calm with little or no tidal movement
and often no much deeper than chest high!
You will be provided with all the necessary
equipment – Bouyancy Aids, Paddles, boat and a dry bag or barrel.
You will receive instructions and a safety briefing (the details
of which can be found on your booking confirmation). You will then
be given a brief introduction lesson (10min) if you are at all
concerned and would like a fuller Introductory lesson for a small
additional charge, please advise us at time of booking. You will
then be launched off into your Broads Adventure.
Wroxham Canoe Hire
– If it’s the hidden secret of the broads you’re looking for this
is the place to start with a variety of trails including the
popular trail ‘The Paddle-Steamer’ take the Bure Valley Steam
Train from either Wroxham (11:10 train) or Coltishall (11:23
train) to Buxton and spend the afternoon paddling back down one of
the most beautiful stretch's of river in the county (its
downstream all the way ie a one-way trip on the water).
If you would rather just hire a canoe we offer
minibus transport from either our shop in Wroxham, Wroxham Railway
Station or Coltishall Church at £2.50 per person to the hire centre
at Buxton and then the afternoon is spent paddling back to your
start point.

Buxton Canoe Hire

your car is parked (or it's a 10 minute walk from the river back
to Wroxham train station).

Horning Canoe Hire
- if it’s classic Broads scenery with a benefit of riverside
hostelries Horning could be for you. The home of one of the
busiest sailing clubs on the broads, Horning gives easy access to
Salhouse, Cockshoot and Ranworth Broads.

Fairhaven Canoe Hire
- Based at the beautiful woodland and water gardens. This
Canoe Hire site gives you instant access to South Walsham Inner
Broad, a private broad belonging to the Fairhaven Trust with lots
of abundant wildlife including Kingfishers, Marsh Harriers and a
pair of resident otters. There are several canoe journeys that
begin at Fairhaven dependent on whether you wish to explore the
hidden dykes or to travel round to Ranworth which would take half
a days canoeing. Canoes are available by the hour, ½ day or day.

Fairhaven Canoe Hire Notes
- In addition to the canoe hire fee you will
also need to pay for entrance into the Gardens at £5.50 per adult,
£3 per child. This allows you to wander around the gardens
before and after your canoe hire.
- It is strongly advised that you book in
advance to guarantee a canoe to be available at weekends.
- During weekdays, you will need to book so
TheCanoeMan Guide can meet you.
- Please note, weather conditions may affect
the cancellation of the canoe hire and the appropriate refund
will be given but this decision may not be made until the day
and we will give you as much notice as possible.
- If you have not done much paddling before, we
would recommend to a couple of hours or a half day hire.

to the meeting point where the canoes are.)

General Canoe Hire Notes
- Additional transport outside of any canoe hire
can be arranged at an additional cost of £10, eg from Norwich
Train Station.
- Prior to your canoeing trip we will give you a
short briefing about the river and some tips on how to keep your
boats upright and going in a straight line.
- Should you require food at lunchtime there
are shops and pubs within walking distance at Horstead Mill and
Coltishall (Buxton hires)
- We have Canadian canoes that can take up to 4 persons
(typically 2 adults and 2 children or 3 adults). They have a
maximum weight limit of 36 stone. These boats are ideal for the
total novice or for those wishing to go on longer trips, they are
capable of taking all your camping equipment & luggage for up to a
week canoeing / camping.
